This is a full-day ride, best experienced in the spring or fall to avoid extreme temperatures. Due to the length of the route, riders must plan their fuel stops carefully; gas is available at a high price in the mid-point town of Crown King. The route is remote in sections, requiring riders to be self-sufficient with water and tools.
