Lake Arrowhead OHV Trails encompasses an extensive network within the San Bernardino National Forest, centered around the Pinnacles OHV Staging Area north of Lake Arrowhead. The trail system accommodates all vehicle types with routes ranging from beginner loops to advanced challenges, including the popular Beginner Loop (3W09) and the demanding Redonda Ridge OHV Trail (1W17). The terrain features more technical difficulty compared to nearby Big Bear, with narrow rutty sections, significant elevation changes, and twisty routes through forested mountain landscape. Trail connections extend from Pinnacles to destinations including Deep Creek, Devil's Hole, Squints Ranch, and Silverwood Lake, with some routes accessing the Crab Flats area on Big Bear's side via Dishpan crossing.
The area operates year-round with restrictions on "Red Sticker" vehicles from May 1 through September 30 during peak fire season. A National Forest Adventure Pass ($5 daily or $30 annually) or Interagency Pass is required for parking access. The Pinnacles staging area provides vault toilets, picnic tables, informational signs, and parking facilities, though no water is available on-site. Recent trail improvements include widening and updated signage with side-by-side vehicle indicators.
