Charouleau Gap is a challenging 19-mile point-to-point route in the Coronado National Forest that is primarily designed and used by high-clearance 4x4 vehicles. It is not a typical dirt bike trail, as there is no single-track, and the riding consists of slow-speed, technical navigation over a very rough road. The terrain is consistently difficult, featuring steep, rocky climbs, deep ruts, and washes filled with creek bed rocks, with the main reward being the area's impressive scenery.
Due to the rugged nature of the trail, it is best suited for experienced riders on bikes prepared for technical, rocky terrain. As this is an undeveloped forest route, there are no amenities, and riders must be self-sufficient.
