The Nicolai Mountain OHV Area features over 17 miles of trails offering a diverse and challenging experience through a dense forest. There are no single-track trails in this system; instead, riders will find wide, multi-use paths with highly varied terrain, ranging from smooth, hard-packed sections to rugged, rocky paths with slippery tree roots. With some steep hills and technical sections, this area is best suited for intermediate riders who are comfortable on wider, shared trails.
Located in the Clatsop State Forest, this trail system is open to dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs up to 60 inches wide. The trails are marked and rated to help with navigation. There are no developed facilities, but unrestricted primitive camping is permitted throughout the area, allowing for self-sufficient overnight stays.
