The Genoa Peak trail system offers approximately 10 miles of upper elevation roads with multiple side trails, providing dirt bike riders with smooth, soft-soil conditions and excellent single-track options. The area features non-rocky terrain with well-maintained trails that include berms and flowing sections, making it suitable for various skill levels. While primarily known as a mountain biking destination, the trails are OHV-friendly with some specifically marked for motorcycles. The main drawback is that many of the best single-track trails are relatively short and can terminate at private property boundaries, requiring riders to be mindful of property lines, especially at lower elevations.
Access is via the staging area on Genoa Park Road, with the trail to Genoa Peak itself spanning 9.3 miles and suitable for day trips. The system is open from June through November 15 and offers spectacular scenic views of both Lake Tahoe to the west and Carson Valley to the east. The area connects to the South Camp Peak Trail system, which consists mainly of old fire and service roads, expanding riding opportunities. Riders share the trails with hikers and mountain bikers, and the area provides primitive camping options along with several play areas for practicing skills. The high recreational diversity means encountering other trail users is common, particularly near connections to the Tahoe Rim Trail and surrounding wilderness areas.Dirt Bike Trail System
