The Chloride Mine Trail is a 17-mile point-to-point route that offers a mix of easy scenic riding and a concentrated, difficult section. The majority of the trail consists of wide, graded roads that are relatively easy, but a multi-mile segment near the beginning of the ride is notably challenging. This technical portion contains steep climbs, numerous large rocks, and washouts on narrow trails that will test a rider's skill. The route is rich with history, taking riders past numerous abandoned mines, old mining ruins, and historic murals painted on the rock faces.
Located near the town of Chloride, the trail climbs high into the Cerbat Mountains. Riders should be aware that vehicle staging within the town can be difficult, so it is best to find a designated public area. The route passes directly through two campgrounds, Windy Point and Packsaddle, which provide excellent bases for exploring the area or taking a break.
