The Mount Emily Recreation Area (MERA) offers a fantastic and growing trail system for dirt bikers, highlighted by its rugged, hand-built single-track trails. Designated as Class III, these motorcycle-only routes provide a challenging ride through a scenic mountain landscape with excellent views of the Grande Ronde Valley. In addition to the single-track, riders can enjoy a fun motocross track. The terrain is a mix of hard-packed earth, loose dirt, and rocky sections, catering primarily to intermediate and skilled riders.
Located in Union County, MERA features a well-managed system where trails are numbered and designated for specific vehicle classes, preserving the quality of the single-track experience. An Oregon OHV permit, a spark arrestor, and a silencer are all mandatory. While some trails have seasonal wildlife closures, much of the area is open year-round, conditions permitting.
